Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has a “mild” strained left hamstring and will miss at least two weeks, coach Rick Carlisle said Wednesday.

“I don’t think it is realistic that he’d play before that,” Carlisle said of Haliburton, who is listed as week-to-week. “And then go from there.”

Earlier in the day, Carlisle told 107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis that the Pacers had brought in a hamstring expert they have consulted with in the past. That specialist was set to meet with the team’s trainers, Haliburton and members of the front office before Wednesday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Haliburton’s Return Was Short-Lived

Haliburton played in the first four games of the season, including a back-to-back on Sunday and Monday, after missing 16 months while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the 2025 NBA Finals.

He acknowledged feeling “a little beat up” after Monday’s game in Milwaukee before appearing on the injury report Wednesday. Through those four games, Haliburton was averaging 21.8 points, 9.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds on 52% shooting while playing 33 minutes per game.

This is not the first time Haliburton has dealt with trouble in that left hamstring. In January 2024, he missed 10 of 11 games with the injury. He returned for the rest of the season, then aggravated it during the playoffs and missed the final two games of the Eastern Conference finals against Boston.

Star Injuries Mount Around the League

Haliburton joins an growing list of stars sidelined early this season, including Oklahoma City’s Jalen Williams, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards and Toronto’s Kawhi Leonard.

Indiana’s Injury List Grows

The Pacers are also dealing with a growing list of absences. Four of their five starters appeared on the injury report for Wednesday’s game against the Sixers.

Ivica Zubac was already ruled out with a left ankle sprain. Carlisle said T.J. McConnell, who has yet to play this season, has a right hamstring strain and is expected to miss approximately one more week. Ben Sheppard tore his left meniscus and is expected to miss “months,” according to Carlisle, and Johnny Furphy has had surgery on his right ACL.

Andrew Nembhard missed Monday’s game in Milwaukee and is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game because of neck soreness.

The Pacers won 19 games last season, the fewest in franchise history, while Haliburton was sidelined for the entire 2025-26 season.
